This is the latest incarnation of my personal statement. I did something dramatically different with this one, and would love feedback, comments, critiques, etc. I'm making this available for download, but you will need to contact me for the password to access this file. The link will expire in 4 days, so if I don't hear from you, I'll assume that Life got in the way. My goal is to have this ready to be submitted on my b-day.

Thank you for helping me out.

President Obama's Fireside Chat
11:47am 26/03/2009

Girl With the Curious Hair
It was today at 11:30am, EST. Up till 9:30am EST, anyone could submit a question (either text or video), and other could vote on whether that question got answered. This is not the government picking the questions, this is us picking our own questions. So, I'm watching this Town Hall Meeting, and this statistic is at the bottom:

"92,925 people have submitted 104,127 questions and cast 3,606,834 votes"

Less then 100,000 people got involved in this really, historic undertaking. Not since the Fireside Chats has a president attempted to reach out to this degree. Yes, previous presidents had their talk on Saturdays on the radio or on TV, but this is a new twist on an old favorite. And when I saw how few people stepped up... Well, did I really want these 100,000 people speaking for me? What if they don't ask the questions I have? 100,000 people is a drop in the bucket. It's a fraction of the whole, and statistically not a proper representation.

Guys, we have to step up. I hope the President does this again. I hope that more people are aware of it next time around. I hope next time, I have some kick-ass questions formed in my brain.

Oh and he just answered a question about legalizing marajuana sparking the economy. He says he doesn't think that will work.

More of Me Bemoaning My Lack of Discipline

Girl With the Curious Hair
On twitter, I follow amazing people. People I admire, people who are leading the way in terms of art, business, culture itself.

And yet, the more I read and follow them, the more I realize how much I'm not contributing. And I don't want that. I've never wanted to be just the quiet observer, yet more and more, especially since college, that's where I've been finding myself. And again, that feeling that I'm running out of time comes.

If someone asked me to have a portfolio of whatever I've done ready by the end of the week, it'd be pathetic. A couple pictures, maybe a half finished story that I'm scared to continue.

So yeah, blah blah blah, I've said this all before.

I'm running out of time, because I know that if I don't do something with myself now, I never will. This time that I'm living right now will be lost. And there's so much I want to say, so much I want people to know, so much that I want people (myself included) to experience.

Other then this, life is actually pretty okay.

Time for coffee.

This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now.

Why? Because Starbucks is taking my benefits away for not working enough hours. This, after there was a corporate-wide hours cut.

I should have started up my own business when I had the chance.
